Low lying polder

Walked a new walk the day before yesterday – a simple line along a dike from Andijk to Bovenkarspel, with the old fortified town of Enkhuizen inbetween. Very high dike! Something I did not totally appreciate before is how much below water level these polders are.

Enkhuizen is a place we visited many many times while sailing the IJsselmeer. Nothing much had changed, there, apart from the season. We’d never been in the idyllic inner harbour in fall, and now it was strewn with yellow leaves: very pretty
