Abstraction
Was at my mothers in Heerde the other day, and ambled through the town of my birth with her, arm in arm. We visited the local community center – brand new and pretty nice – where I met with a gigantic wall hanging made up of embroidered samplers, all about Heerde. And very nice it was indeed!
I checked it out just now – it was made by the organisation for local history and the samplers were all made for the occasion by a group of regulars. I was curious about that – how on earth does one get one’s hands on so many samplers all on one theme? The result I found intriguing – cross stitch is a way of forcing the mind to go from concrete to abstract that I haven’t explored yet.
