Zoutkamp

Holland Holiday

Holland Holiday. This picture  is taken at a sluice at Zoutkamp, a fishing town way in the north of Holland and a real middle-of-nowhere place.

Visited a small museum devoted to the fishing – or better: shrimping – trade that has provided the people of Zoutkamp with an income for the last 200 years. Museum had the cutest fisherman’s house I’ve ever seen – tiny but complete. It had two reproductions of paintings on it’s wall, postcard-size. Surprising to meet with van Gogh and Gauguin in this setting.
