Booked

And yes – we’ve booked! Eveline  and Everdien are definitely going to visit the Targalte Concept to see our threads woven into very colourful tapestries. Trip involves a hop by plane to Marrakech (never been to Marocco before) then an 8-hour trek by bus to what is called ‘the last oasis’, the town of M’Hamid el Ghizlane, one of the Moroccan doors to the Sahara.  How romantic  is that?  Of course, there is nothing romantic about a subsistance lifestyle. Which is why Targalte Concept works to bring economic and social opportunities to the region.

From 9 to 11 November we will be their guests at the 4th  Taragalte Festival, featuring local art and local culture: poems, stories, old customs and of course music of the desert. Again: how romantic is that? I’m planning to take some try-outs of working with the T-shirt yarn, in order to share the techniques. That is – in case they are interested. Have ordered smyrna, which is a very coarse canvas that I hope I will be able to do cross-stitch on with my yarn. Will also try sewing it on tight-woven materials, comparable with what I did  here. So next week sees me buying new T-shirts and turning those into yarn, a process that is time-consuming but that I enjoy.
