A walk along the Zaltbommel waterfront today. I wasn’t the only one checking up on the high water level of the river – has not been this high for years – memories of 1993 flooding back.

The rather silly statue of a young boy in swimming trunks is not meant to entice us to go swimming. His hand signals the maximum waterlevel the dikes can handle. We have some room to spare, still.
