Happy accidents

Here is the pic I chose as ‘best of show’ – the one picture I think is best able to represent the Koninginnedag intervention. What did I learn: Message on the button is too small to come across on a picture. So I had to think of a way to create a picture where the button would be big but also natural looking. The idea to have the girl hold up the button to the camera came from the pics taken at Kinderdijk – the picture postcard of the mills that I photographed there.

This is what art schooling plus an experimental attitude helped me do: take advantage of things that go not according to plan. Calling them ‘happy accidents’  I’ve  learned to spot them and appreciate them, even. Which is saying a lot for a graduate of Delft Technical University, home of the blueprint thinkers!
