Labor of love

Marius Boezem set the people living around the Oude Kerk a challenge: embroider the church’s plan in cross stitch. Never mind the cold (they smuggled in a heater and hid it under the table), never mind the time constraints (the huge cloth must be finished before the end of the exhibition). A labor of love indeed, and a feminine note in an otherwise stark and cold environment.

Did these woman color-coordinate their clothes? All were in black, like nuns, It was as if time had rolled back and  reformation had never been.
